Our School Development Plan

Working Together for Your Child's Success

Our Vision: With God's love at the heart of all we do, we celebrate the unique gifts of every individual. Rooted in Christian hope, pupils grow academically and in their faith, equipped to live full and happy lives and care for the people and the world around them.

Priority 1: Happy playtimes and consistent behaviour

What we are doing:

  • Transforming outdoor play through the OPAL programme to make playtimes more enjoyable and engaging
  • Making behaviour expectations clear and consistent so all children know what's expected
  • Ensuring fairness by monitoring that all children are treated equally
  • Working with you through early conversations if behaviour concerns arise
  • Supporting children's needs by considering whether challenging behaviour might indicate unmet special educational needs

What this means for your child:

  • More fun and creative playtimes with exciting activities
  • Clear, fair rules that everyone follows
  • Staff who understand and support your child's individual needs
  • You'll be involved early if any concerns arise

Priority 2: The right support for every child to reach their potential

What we are doing:

  • Identifying and supporting all children who need extra help to ensure every child achieves their full potential
  • Creating personalised support plans for children with special educational needs, led by their class teacher
  • Spotting barriers to learning early through regular assessment
  • Using proven teaching methods to help children catch up
  • Building confidence so children become independent, resilient learners
  • Setting ambitious targets for every child
  • Supporting smooth transitions between Reception, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2

What this means for your child:

  • Teachers will quickly identify if your child needs extra support
  • Targeted help will be provided to ensure no child falls behind
  • Your child will develop the confidence to tackle challenges
  • Clear targets and regular updates on progress

Priority 3: Confident communicators, with a rich, engaging curriculum

What we are doing:

  • Embedding oracy (speaking and listening skills) across all subjects
  • Creating an oracy and vocabulary policy to ensure consistent teaching of communication skills
  • Introducing a revised RE curriculum that explores Christianity as a global faith and recognises different worldviews
  • Ensuring learning builds on what children already know so they remember more
  • Providing exciting trips and visitors to bring learning to life
  • Preparing Year 6 pupils well for secondary school

What this means for your child:

  • Your child will develop excellent speaking and listening skills
  • They'll learn subject-specific vocabulary to express their ideas clearly
  • A rich, engaging curriculum with memorable experiences
  • Strong preparation for the next stage of their education

Priority 4: Expert staff who understand every child's needs

What we are doing:

  • Training all staff in adapting teaching to meet every child's needs
  • Developing expertise in creating support plans, managing behaviour, and understanding special educational needs
  • Providing coaching and support for teachers through regular classroom visits
  • Supporting staff development through professional qualifications
  • Ensuring all training is based on proven research and evidence
  • Developing future leaders within our school
  • Sharing our expertise with other schools

What this means for your child:

  • Highly skilled teachers who can adapt lessons to help every child succeed
  • Staff who understand and can support different learning needs
  • Consistently excellent teaching across all subjects
  • A stable, well-trained team committed to your child's success
