London Fo Guang Shan Temple
On Thursday 23rd May, Year 6 visited a Buddhist temple called London Fo Guang Shan Temple. Despite being based behind Oxford Street it was a very peaceful and tranquil place to visit to learn more about Buddhism. We were greeted by a nun called Venerable Jue Qian. She explained and showed several practices that occur in the temple. The children all took part in meditation. They undertook several craft activities which included: printing, cutting, colouring and calligraphy. Most of year 6 ate together with the nuns in the dining room. It was an amazing place to visit. There were several Buddhist volunteers leading the different activities. We were very proud of the children as they listened well, showed respect and above all they appeared to enjoy themselves as they learnt about a different faith.
