The Edward Betham C of E Primary School

School Meals

School Dinners are provided by a private catering company called ISS.

They are cooked in Coston School kitchen adjacent to the school and delivered to the Infant and Junior Kitchens. A choice of food, including vegetarian, is published in weekly menus. (Our school menu is here.) You can find out more about ISS here.

The Mayor is funding universal free school meal provision in London primary schools  - it means that all primary school children in London will get a free meal for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years. Your child will receive their free meals automatically and you do not need to apply.

However, your child may also be eligible for extra funding for our school from the Government and entitle you to other benefits like food vouchers during the holiday.

Additionally, if you are in receipt of benefit-related free school meals, your child would be eligible for Holiday activities (HAF) this a great way for your child to have fun during the school holidays. You need to make an application to Perceval House, Uxbridge Road, Ealing W2 2HL to receive these. Further information may be sought from the school office, or visit Ealing Council's website.

If preferred children may bring a packed lunch to school or go home for dinner. Children with packed lunches are not allowed to have sweets or chocolate in their lunch, nor bring cans or fizzy drinks to school. We are a Nut-Free school; please do not send any products containing nuts to school. For children who have a nut allergy, the reaction to exposure can be severe and life-threatening.

We cannot accept responsibility for food lost, damaged or mislaid.

School milk

Children in the Nursery and Infant Departments may be provided with a carton of milk each day. This is provided free of charge in the Nursery. In the Infant Department, however, there is a small charge for the milk. The total cost is subsidised by the EU. Parents/carers wishing their child to have milk need to order this through 'Cool Milk' and pay when placing the order. Our office staff can provide parents/carers with information on how to do this.

National Fruit Scheme

The school is part of the National Fruit Scheme whereby children in Nursery and the Infant Department receive a piece of fruit each day to eat at playtime. Children in the Junior Department are encouraged to bring fruit to school to eat at playtime.
