Edward Betham vs St Raphael

Football match report: Tuesday 16th May

The match was between St Raphael Catholic Primary School and The Edward Betham CofE Primary School. At the match were La’Shay, Alek, Richard, Reyan, Cezary, Jeremiah (the captain), Kai, Nicolas, Kacper and myself.

First half

Edward Betham took the kick off but our opponents scored first. The score was St Raphael 1 – Edward Betham 0, but the team tried to keep their spirits up. This was reflected in the way the team played as La’Shay scored and levelled the score: it was 1-1. Betham still remained confident as they went on to score another two goals before the end of the first half, after twenty-five minutes. It was 3-1. At half time, our coach gave us all instructions of what to do in the next half if we wanted to win the game. After a five minute break and some encouragement, we went onto the pitch to start the second half.

Second half

The second half commenced with St Raphael’s kick off. There were no goals for quite some time during the second half but, once again, our opponents scored first. It came from a scrambled corner, but eventually the ball rolled into the Edward Betham net. But Betham wouldn’t give up, even though it was 3-2, and kept their won’t-stop-trying spirits high. Although it was hard, Edward Betham managed to score again, and restore their two-goal lead. And just to top it off, the scored once more to make the score 5-2. The match ended and Edward Betham progressed to the next round.
