The Edward Betham C of E Primary School

Camilla George's visit

Camilla George is a famous musician, composer and teacher.  Camilla was born in Nigeria and has been interested in music ever since she was young.  She especially likes combining African and western music.

Today Camilla George came to Edward Betham (her primary school) and told us all about her music career, the saxophone and her love of the saxophone that inspired her to live this career.  She told us all about the parts of the saxophone and even played some saxophone music for us.

Camilla also told us that the saxophone is not in the brass family; it is, in fact, in the woodwind family because it uses a reed on its mouthpiece. Camilla played a song about the mermaid that was the spirit and who was mean. The piece was very moving and it made you realise how amazing Camilla George’s saxophone playing is.

Camilla shared her experience with us of when she went on a world tour, visiting countries such as Finland, Africa and Spain.

Camilla is a clear inspiration to us all and is a wonderful role model for accomplishing dreams.
