Part-Time Teaching Assistant Post: 1:2 Support

Overview

The Edward Betham CofE Primary School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant school community, where you will work within an experienced teaching team who value hard work, respect and open communication. We are a high-achieving two-form entry school, graded as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2024 and ‘Excellent’ by SIAMS in 2022.

The hours of work in this post are 22 hours a week, term time only, to start as soon as possible. The role is to work 1:2 with children in Year 5.

Personal attributes

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience of working with children with additional needs
  • An understanding of autism (preferably, a certificated course related to autism)
  • A warm manner, yet an ability to maintain firm and clear boundaries for behaviour, learning and social communication
  • Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work in a team and make a positive contribution to raising standards and making all adults and children feel part of the school
  • A positive, pro-active approach to supporting pupils’ social and behavioural needs
  • Experience of running intervention programmes (e.g. Numeracy/Literacy programmes for pupils of lower ability with additional learning needs

Salary

Scale point: 4 or 5, dependent upon experience. This will be discussed at interview.

Contract: Pupil-linked 

Salary: £16,431 to £17,147 (Scale 4 actual salary); £17,645 to £18.429 (Scale 5 actual salary)
